A night with the Pink Martini

I can’t really remember when was the first time that I heard the music of the Pink Martini but I do remember the gentle voice of China Forbes, and the wild piano of Thomas Lauderdale. I remember there was always a “rude” trumpet as well!

What a band!

I had to wait more than 10 years and on May 27th 2014, I had the opportunity to see them performing live in Bahrain. It was as I expected; an old school band that are producing music from everything!

They sing in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Arabic, Russian and Japanese blending the sounds uniquely.

That night in Bahrain the Pink Martini had with them on stage a living legend; the Japanese singer Saori Yuki. Together they released the album 1969 , in 2011. Another great surprise for me was that their newest member in the band is a young greek musician, Antonis Andreou.

I am sure that the Pink Martini will continue surprising us with their music. I cannot wait to see whats next !
